A compilation of resources for parents going through estrangement. Some of these were helpful to me as I healed from the estrangement of my oldest son, his wife and their children. My philosophy has always been to use what I can from resources and leave the things I don’t find helpful. I am adding things here that may not have been helpful for me, but you may find help, hope, and healing using them.
Books:
- F*uck Them Kids: Challenging the One-Sided Narrative of the Estrangement Epidemic and the Biased Therapy Trends That Fuel it by Vivian King, PhD.
- Rules of Estrangement: Why Adult Children Cut Ties and How to Handle Conflict by Joshua Coleman, PhD.
- Banished: A Grandmother Alone: Surviving Alienation and Estrangement by Nancy Lee Klune
- Abandoned Parents: Scapegoating and the Historical Child by Sharon Wildey.
- Rumination Remedies by Sheri McGregor
A book I read on legacy letters also helped me heal. After listening to this book, I started journals for my grandchildren. For You When I am Gone: Twelve Essential Questions to Tell a Life Story
